    Sotomayer is a Catholic. Her Jewish name probably means that she is a descendant of a converso, a Jew who converted to Catholicism under the Inquisition. But she is Catholic. Some ancestor of hers was Jewish, but she is not.

    Also, no, Jews are not represented at all. Jews per se have no representation whatsoever. Contra Marx, a person does not possess some one-dimensional “class-interest”. The mere fact that someone is Jewish does not determine their interests by itself. For example, I am an Orthodox Jew, but my favorite political figures are Ron Paul and Clarence Thomas, who are hardly Jewish like myself. Despite the fact that I am Jewish, it is safe to say that I have virtually no political representation whatsoever. Meanwhile, I abhor most Jewish political figures on account of their socialism.

    But if you believe that someone’s interests are dictated solely by their religion or ethnic group, then congratulations, you’re a Marxist.
